"The Lord Has Anointed Me to Bring Good News to the Poor"

McDowell County, West Virginia

The "third world" does not just exist overseas. It is right here in our own back yard. In OUR America! Families exist in horrendous conditions; living in trash heaps, houses condemned, with no running water and sewage flowing under their homes. There is an overwhelming amount of poverty, drugs and prostitution. Young children are running the streets with no direction or proper care. Here is what I do know; these people, although forgotten by society, have NOT been forgotten by their Father in heaven. So here we are! We have the honor of sharing the love, hope and grace of Jesus with them! God is so good and His love is steadfast!

Our West Virginia Family... This guy right here is THE man! Zera House has proudly partnered with School for Life in McDowell County, West Virginia! This county is one of the poorest in the nation! Jack (pictured) acquired and restored an old high school building 11 years ago. It has been transformed into a place of refuge for those in the community who need help! The school is also used to host mission teams and volunteers that come through.

 Also on staff is Ms. Marjie, I like to call her, Momma Marjie. The children of the community flock to her because of the love that flows so generously through her. She has created Sunlight Ministries which caters to the kids and elderly in the area, making sure they are cared for and their needs are met. She is the backbone of this place! Momma Marjie does not stop! I truly don't know how she does it!

 Currently, we have 2 residents in the building who have overcome horrific circumstances. This particular story I am thrilled to share with you! Our female resident, once homeless, a crack cocaine addict, who would sell herself for a fix, is about to graduate from her CNA classes! We are so proud of her!! This once hopeless soul is now glowing! Life radiates through her. She's smiling from ear to ear. You better believe it, we will be celebrating tomorrow when she walks across that platform. SFL has helped many overcome difficult circumstances thanks to their remarkable team.

  Zera House has so much support and help thanks to these pillars of light who have simply said,"Yes, Lord! Use me!". We are in the process of starting a program for young women in the area who are at risk of entering exploitation or have already! I am excited about what's to come and to see lives transformed!

    We are about to have a very busy summer hosting mission teams and friends volunteering their time to help rebuild and fix up the area. They will engage families from the community to participate in fun programs they have designed. We are so grateful for all of the help that comes through this place. It is so needed! If you or someone you know is excited about volunteering in the "third world" without needing a passport, this is the place for you! Please visit us in McDowell County, West Virginia. We are set up to accommodate groups large or small. We would love to have you! To learn more go to:

Our Zera House Program...Zera House is working on a ministry program for local girls who are at risk of being exploited. Some of our girls already engaging in prostitution or being sold. We are giving women in the area a chance to overcome their obstacles and rise above their circumstances by providing an opportunity for them to work, while creating a safe place. Our hope is to teach job skills, a good work ethic and most importantly give them hope for their future. We have a screen printing room right here in the school. Our plan is to use this operation as a tool for the women in the community to grow. Our hope is to empower, strengthen and build confidence so these ladies have success, without returning to self destructive ways. Once our operation is up and running, we will have super cool tee shirts for sale. We are eager to get this going! We will need some financial help getting this up and running. Some needs being; Shirt Ink, tee-shirts, dryer etc. If you would like to assist in this project, you can make a donation through our website; http://www.zerahouse.org or mail a check to:

So, in a nut shell;
