Fall is Here
The leaves are changing colors up here in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia and the temperatures are starting to cool. This is my favorite time of year. I am grateful for this new season.
Best Summer Ever!
(and kind of hard)
This summer, as many of you know, I had the opportunity to care for a young girl who comes from very sad circumstances. In the previous email I mentioned;
"I currently have a nine year old girl in my care. Her grandmother has asked me to help with her for the summer. So, I gladly created a space for her in my home. She has escaped horrific circumstances as she is a victim of abuse and lives in poverty. Her mother is a drug addict and has had her walking the streets. This precious one has been rescued several times by people in the area who knew she was at risk of being sold."
Sadly she is no longer in my care. I am so grateful for the time we did have together and the opportunity to speak life into this precious child of our loving Father in heaven. This was a hard summer for me, personally. I struggled. I tried not to carry the burden myself. I found myself exhausted and ready to quit. I was taking on someone else's child who had not been cared for. When I took this little one in, she had teeth rotting out of her mouth, few manners and little structure. By God's grace, we were able to provide all that she needed in the short time she was in our care. Through His strength I was able to care for her and love her, even when it was hard to do. "Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." The battle belongs to the Lord. I cast my cares on Him. He carries this little ones circumstances so that I don't have to. He reminded me of this one Sunday morning as I was sitting in church. I had felt so heavy, burdened and weak. I left that morning filled with His peace and like a huge weight was lifted. I know without a doubt that the Lord has used this time to equip and teach me for what's to come. A BIG thank you to all who supported me during this season, through prayer, guidance and donations. Just to name a few; we were given an American Girl doll, manicures, clothes, a day at the beach, a day in NYC and so much more. Because of YOU we were able to give her the BEST SUMMER EVER!! Her first vacation ever! Here is a little video that I put together for my girl! You will witness her having many firsts; first time touching the ocean, first Starbucks, first piece of Jersey Pizza, first time at a target, first time in NYC and most importantly, first time around family that loves so well. I am so grateful to my own family who loved her like she was one of our very own. She was able to experience something money can't buy. These are the things I know she will hold onto forever. Here are the memories I share with one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met. She has so much compassion, heart and drive, it's inspiring.
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to uproot"
WE HAVE A ZERA HOUSE MOBILE!!
Thanks to a generous couple, who went above and beyond their call of servitude. We now have a car that is safe, reliable and great for these West Virginia mountains. We needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle that has 7 or more seats. This will help transport our residents to and from and will also aide in rescues. We are so grateful and humbled by this gift. God is good and he is definitely putting all the pieces together for our Zera House ministry.
We are just about complete with the house project we had going for one of our girls! So exciting to see this all come to completion. When I first met "A", she was in a state of hopelessness and despair. She has since turned her life around. "A" is employed and looking to go back to school. This one has a fresh start on life and it has been so exciting to watch! Thank you again to all who donated for this project. Because of your help, we were able to put a new roof on her house, paint, put in a new kitchen ceiling and new bathroom floor. She has started moving her stuff into the house this week! We could not have done it without the help of our volunteers who donated their time and talent. It is so refreshing to have skilled workers with such big hearts who are so willing to serve. It makes what we do here so much easier.
Please be praying for the Zera House. We are still waiting for the doors to open. We wait on the Lord, His timing is perfect. We are in the process of staffing the house. If you or someone you know is interested in working for a ministry that serves women who have been trafficked or sexually exploited, please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org We are now accepting applications.
Please pray for "K", the little one who was in my care. Pray that the Lord covers her in his care. That she is protected from the evil that plagues her circumstances. That she rises above and comes out on top!
Pray for "A" as she works diligently to overcome her circumstances every day. That the Lord will provide all her needs as she takes on home ownership!
Thank you all again and again for your continued support! Without you, I would not be able to do what I do. I marvel at the blessings that come through. I am donating my birthday to Zera House. If you would like to be a part of it, please click the link below or our donate button.
