Our Gardens
The Zera House gardens are a pillar of our program.
Our ultimate hope during the course of our recovery program is to plant seeds into the hearts of the women we serve.
Seeds that can take root, grow and thrive.
The gardens serve as a living illustration of the growth and success of the survivors that come through our doors.
“ZERA”
means “seed” in Hebrew
In addition, horticulture therapy has been shown to have many healing benefits. The simple ability to plant a seed (set a goal) and watch it grow to fruition, is such a beautiful motivator. It teaches responsibility and intention.
Harvesting your own produce not only promotes healthy living for your physical body, but produces a great sense of accomplishment.
We are thrilled to say that our West Virginia team practices sustainable living through our bountiful gardens and by raising chickens for fresh eggs.
As we progress, we cannot wait to see these things expand and we look forward to other sustainable additions like bee keeping!
